Why were you successful in the 2022 Futurity?
I was successful in the 2022 Futurity because of how much I believed in the horse. I had less than 12 rides on TF High Brow Flash when I entered the futurity on her and became a champion. That horse took everything so well. When I entered the arena, it was just the horse and me. I knew we were gonna kill it. I had the perfect horse and support crew to help me in the Futurity, which is why I was successful.
What advice would you give to future competitors?
One of the biggest things I have learned about running young horses all year is don’t push them too far too fast. When I entered my first futurity in 2021, I placed in the bottom 10 when I was one of the top prospects. I pushed the horse too hard on the first stage instead of letting it go at its speed. I took a 60 on my first stage. I learned from that experience. The best advice I can give is to trust your horse. Yes, they are young. Yes, they can be stubborn with their age. But trusting them is the #1 key to being successful in the arena. And believing in yourself and in the horse that you guys can do it.
